it depends on your window manager, you can use KDE, gnome, enlightment. Also you can use themes like in XP. For screenshots you can take a look at the websites of kde or gnome. http://www.kde.org/screenshots/ or http://www.gnome.org/

It usually looks like its owner wants. Since almost nothing is predetermined, the looks may vary wildly.
